Military Wedding Traditions and Etiquette

My first article, Military Wedding Traditions and Etiquette, is up on Bayside Bride. Read about the traditions of the Arch of Swords and cake cutting as well as the etiquette involving proper dress atire and invitations.

I had a great time researching all the information with Claire MacCullum from the USNA Chapel and I cannot wait to put these traditions and etiquette into effect for my own wedding.

  2. I loved the article you wrote for Bayside Bride. Joe and I just got married in Hawaii last year where we were stationed as we knew we had a PCS coming the beginning of this year (Now stationed in CA), but our wedding there was just a small ceremony on the beach with maybe 10 people. We have plans in the works for a big wedding in September of this year back home in PA so that I can wear the white gown and so everyone can come and be a part of our day…recently we were rethinking going through with our big wedding. It's obviously a lot of money and since we are already married…we just don't know if it's necessary. I thought my mind was made up, but after reading your article I'm wondering if I will regret not having a "big" wedding. The pictures from your article were just so beautiful…I love the military traditions and even the invitations all decked out with anchors. Thanks for sharing your article! I'm going to have to rethink this! lol

    1. Thank you. I would say do the wedding (and cut costs where you need to so it's not so dauntingly expensive) or have a vow renewal or party where the people you wanted at your original wedding can come and share the day with you.
