End of Semester Recap

You know what, when it comes to blogging I tend to have an uneven ratio of words to pictures. And I'm really ok with that. I understand there's a lot of TLDR out there and I think most of my pictures can say a lot already. That's why I love instagram. I get to essentially mini blog which is super helpful for letting everyone know what's going on in my life without me writing a book all the time. Anyways, I never shared how the end of semester ended up: I was high stress with finals and then immediately went into vacation. Well I'll have you know I made out with some of the best grades this semester and managed to have fun towards the end, shocking I know.

PopPop || He's been living with us lately because his apartment building caught fire (his room is okay, they're just rebuilding.) It's fun having him around since he's a pretty fun party kind of guy.

Alcohol Gifts || I relieved a variety of drinks from my family. Whiskey, champagne, wine, vodka, and rum. And of course a book of drunk writers, Literary Rogues.

Kacie and Me || Kacie and I are finally 21 and got to drink with the family together at Pusser's.

BBC Drink in Ocean City || Mom and I went to Ocean City for Mother's Day weekend. I went to look for jobs and a place for me and 9 friends from Ireland to crash. The search was near impossible, so I wound up looking in Annapolis (to my luck.) Even though searching was hard my mom and I had a great time bonding and drinking wine and tropical drinks.

3 Years || Gerred and I have been dating for 3 years now. May 9, 2010 is when we made it official and August 30, 2012 is when he proposed. I'm happy to marry this guy one day and can't wait to start planning and you know, making a real wedding date.

Mother's Day Mimosa || On Mother's Day I told my Dad "Let's make mom egg white omelets with feta cheese and the whole shibang" he agreed, but I wound up not cooking that at all. I instead made mimosas out of a ton of oranges. We then went bike riding and then ate at Gina's Cantina, yum!

Nancy Drew: The Deadly Device || I played the 27th game of the Nancy Drew Mystery Adventure games (yes, I've pretty much played them all since I was 11.) This one was sciency and revolved around Tesla. It wasn't my favorite, but I wound up live playing and texiting it with my other Nancy fan friends: Stacie and Maggie. I cannot wait to play the Ghost of Thorton Hall.

Farewell to Tom || My cousin, Tom, recently got a job in Charleston, South Carolina. He's moving down there and I can't wait to visit him some time because, hey it's South Carolina and Tom.

Saturday Instagram Recap {Week 16}

Here's my Saturday Instagram Recap linkup with Sara of Pearls and Curls of my 21st Birthday!

21 | I turned 21 on April 22 and had fun.

Patterns | I've been painting a lot of patterns this week for my final art project. It's done. I'll post the whole portfolio when the semester lets out.

MVA | I sat in the MVA for only a short while and I ran into an old neighbor from back in the day. There was a woman with an excellent MVA themed shirt.

Crab Deck | Mom took me to lunch at the Crab Deck on my birthday. I wound up getting a Spiked Arnie Palmer and a Pina Colada. And I had fun from there on out.

La Plaza Tapatia | Stacie and Maggie took me out after the Crab Deck and the Blue Bird Tavern to La Plaza Tapatia for margaritas. It was a lot of fun with them and I declared my self the ambassador to La Plaza.

Ducks | I found them.

License | I got my horizontal.

Cara Box | For the second time the post office screwed up. They somehow smashed the side and left a note saying they care. Luckily nothing was broken this time. But seriously USPS, get yourself together.

Lilly Scarf | Sam and I went to dinner on Tuesday at the Blue Heron Cafe and munched on delicous starters. She also surprised me with this Lilly scarf that I must say I am absolutely in love with! She's pretty much the best.

I just want to say I've thoroughly enjoyed myself this week and it's not even over.

Saturday Instagram Recap {Week 14}

I've been loving the change in weather this week so I'm happy to link up with Sara of Pearls and Curls and show you all how I spent these warmer days.

Spring | The sun is out, the trees are blossoming, and I'm happy. Campus is so much more appealing with all the pink trees.

OOTD | I don't normally do OOTD because I've been wearing workout clothes most of the time and I've always been wary of selfies. But, I thought I'd at least share some day to day outfits. I even wore a dress.

Creative Process | Honestly sometimes I don't know how to explain this class. This week the guy who usually brings in his guitar to jam for 12 minutes brought in a toy crocodile, a story on notecards, whirly gigs made of paper, a stick, his guitar, and a coconut. He began to play his mellow music and had us all pretend we were in his backyard. He had one girl in our class walk the crocodile around while another had to stop it in its tracks with a stick all while we read the story off the notecards simultaneously and threw the whirly gigs. Very weird, but it completely de-stressed me for the rest of the week so I really loved it.

Morning Work Outs | I was a little behind on workouts this week. I only went Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday. Hopefully next week I'll get back on track. But I do love that I have committed myself to going to the gym and only not going if I have a paper to write.

Essie's "Grenadine" | I've had this color for a year now and this is the first time I've tried it out. Good gracious I love this color and I've gotten a few compliments on them.

King Lear | It's been my life lately. I need to talk about this class more. Basically I have been filming every aspect of this class: rehearsals, the play, interviews, workshops, special guests and events, you name it I've filmed it. Now I've got 8+ hours to go through and edit before Tuesday. Let's hope for the best and I'll share the final project on here when I can.

Sibling Appreciation Day | This was trending and I'm not even sure if it's a real thing, but I thought I'd pick an old photo of Ryan and me. We look hella formal.

Birchbox and Julep | I was so excited with the boxes coming in the mail, but I'm thinking it might be time to cut ties with Julep. It's really just not doing it for me.

How was your week?

Saturday Instagram Recap {Week 13}

I'm linking up this Saturday again with Sara of Pearls and Curls to share with you how the past two weeks have gone pictorially. I was able to clump two weeks together mainly because I've been very busy with school work lately.

Hanging Birchbox | I got the idea to hang a Birchbox on my wall and display a few of my nail polishes that I plan to use this month. I'm glad I found a use for these boxes and I'm certainly looking to make more things out of them in the future.

Easter | This year's Easter went really well. My little cousin Jesse was convinced the Leprechaun's had hidden the eggs and kept asking me about magic as he looked for the eggs. Also, Tom and Megan were posing for a photo and Ryan photo bombed them perfectly.

Chicken Feet Bowl | In my Creative Process class there's this woman who is making paper out of sheep poop. It's all a bit odd and she's been adding deer fur and egg shells to the mixture every week or so. This past week she brought in a bowl made out of the sheep poop and added some chicken feet for the base. She claimed she was going to use it as an Easter decoration for when her family came over.

Thesis Proposal | This had me stressed out for awhile, but I've finally come up with my topic and submitted my 11 page thesis proposal. It's all on how W.B.Yeats uses the three heroic figures, Cuchulainn, Fergus, and Medb, of the Ulster Cycle in Irish mythology in his poetry to revisit Ireland's cultural past during the Irish Literary Revival. I'm looking at 6 different poems "The Rose," "Fergus and the Druids,""Cuchulain's Fight with the Sea," "Who Goes with Fergus?" "The Old Age of Queen Maeve," and "Cuchulain Comforted" to show how each hero is alludes to a different take on the rise of nationalism before Easter Rising 1916. I haven't even really begun to do the research yet, but I know I need to complete my entire thesis over the summer which may change some of my summer plans.

Lipstick in a Shell | One student in my Creative Process class is doing something (I'm still not sure what yet) with shells. He handed everyone in the class an empty shell and wanted us to fill it and give it back to him. I filled mine with lipstick because I was thinking of how cool Kissing Kate's lipstick was from Holes.

Studying | That's all I've been doing and that's normal since I am in college. I'm not complaining about the work. I'm just really trying to manage my time effectively and get as much done as possible. This weekend is looking like paper writing and project making party.

Cara Box | I sent out my Cara Box to Nicole of Adventures of a Semper Fi Family and you can see here how she liked the box.

Spring Fling | Every year Washington College throws a spring fling full of games and inflatable madness on the green during advising day. This year was sort of a dud, but there was a chicken wing eating contest that grossed me out and a professor who kissed a piglet.

Art | Other than paper writing, I've been photographing, filming, and painting for Creative Process as well as for the King Lear production. It's been fun but also very draining. I may need to share what I've made once I'm done.

What's your life looking like lately?

Saturday's Instagram Recap {Week 6}

I'm back again with Sara's Saturday Instagram Recap and even though there's no real recap to link-up with this week I'd still like to share with you all the things that have happened.

Saturday // I got glasses and they aren't half bad. I finally understand the meaning of HD and can read things in class.

Sunday // I made a sweet betting chart for the superbowl and guess who won, The Ravens!

Tuesday // My OOTD was gym clothes and really has been only gym clothes this whole week (minus Friday) because I've been getting myself to the gym. This is not really January resolution madness, this is just oh hey I'm getting married I should probably do some cardio and shape up my arms so I look good by the time I get a dress madness.

Wednesday // My mailbox was happy as I received cards and letters from Virginia, North Carolina, Finland, Germany, and Ukraine. One of those letters was from Life with rMe and it really made my day, she'll need to expect one in return pretty soon. Also, for the February challenge I had to pick my favorite song and I had a hard time with that. I saw Katie chose Got Your Money by Say Anything and I thought hmmm what do I like to sing at the top of my lungs? Weezer. Specifically, Buddy Holly. "Oooeeeoooo I look just like Buddy Holly, oh oh, and you're Mary Tyler Moore. I don't care what they say about us anyway. I don't care about that."

Thursday // By this point in the week I'd already joined two new clubs, Global Mentors and Peer Wellness Educators, to sort of get back involved at WAC. And headed to the gym for my second time so I've been really trying to eat healthy and log it all on the MyFitnessPal app. Healthy Choice is my friend as it is my main dining partner. Oh and I finally hooked up the beautiful camera strap from Broward Patch Gerred got me for Christmas to my camera.

Friday // I took a trip to the International Re-Entry Conference at UPenn. It was one of the best conferences I've attended. We talked about marketing study abroad experience in resumes and interviews, how to work globally in the US, and digging deeper and reflecting on our time abroad and the changes it has made in our lives. It really got me to reconsider what I plan to do with my life and career into the sense that now I feel like I want to do a million different things. Afterwards we headed to Pod, a super cool Asian restaurant that I kept oohing and ahhing over almost every few minutes.

Follow me on instagram. I'm Shenanigansrose, just like I am on here and everything else.

Saturday's Instagram Recap {Week 5}

I'm participating in Sara's Instagram Recap link-up for the first time and am excited to share little tidbits of my week. For the most part I forget to document the little things that happen during my week, but hopefully through this series I'll try to remember to notice all the little things in my life and share them here.

I decided to be a little bit crazy when catching up with Jenn and Kasey. We painted our faces with lip gloss and went for a night out.

Tried my hand at relaxing and painted my nails in Essie's A-list. Only thing is I'm so relaxed when I paint them that I wind up looking like a horror movie. Luckily I painted right before a shower, so they looked better later.

Gerred sent me a wonderful back to school package filled with 7 sea shells, a back to school CD, the first season of HBO's "Girls," Stationary, 3 types of stamps (pixar, love, and George Washington,) my Steve Madden moccasins I left in Florida, 100 calorie snacks, a letter, and a Navy football. He wins the thoughtful fiance badge.

I started the February Instagram Challenge in order to supplement some photos for this Instagram round up. So far I've done my lock screen = Gerred and Me, best friend = Katie, and role model = Nancy Drew.

My mom and I visited my grandparents on Saturday to wish my grandmother a happy birthday (She's looking great for 29) and to wish my grandfather well after surgery. My little cousins, Jesse and Ilyssa, also came to visit and I kept them occupied with stories, drawings, and valentines crafts.

P.S. I'll be honest, I'm posting this on a Sunday and tweaking the date to make it Saturday in order to participate in the link-up. I just had such a good day yesterday having a non-technology day that I left this post to Sunday.
