Sunday Social {Week 47}

Today I'm linking up with Ashley and Neeley for this weeks Sunday Social and this time it's all about things I really never did as a child.

1. Did you sleepwalk as a child?
Nope.

2. Did you ever try to run away or sneak out of your house?
Well I wasn't that dramatic so no.

3. Did you have any imaginary friends?
Sure did. Apparently I was said to have a man named Fred who lived inside my head and he organized all my thoughts. My dad asked me how I divided both English and French. I said English is all organized in file cabinets. "Where's the French?" "He threw it in the closet and under the bed."

4. Did you ever go toilet papering?
No.

5. Did you ever sneak tv shows you weren't allowed to watch?
I wasn't really allowed to watch many things. I never really sneaked shows or movies until high school. If my mom thought it was "adult" in language, violence, or any remote sex scenes she would cover my eyes or say "I don't think you should be watching this." So of course I did. And I definitely snuck into movies and told my mom I saw a different movie than what I saw

Sunday Social {Week 46}

Today I'm linking up with Ashley and Neeley for this weeks Sunday Social and this time it's all about weaknesses of the must haves.

1. What is your shopping weakness?
Great deals and old cameras. If I happen upon an old camera I research it and barter for a good price.

2. What is your food weakness?
Brie. Sushi. Trail Mix. I would preferably not combine these.

3. What is your go to movie to watch when nothing is on?
I don't have go to movies. I tend to watch new and different movies so that I never watch the same thing twice. But, I will always make an exception for Monty Python and the Holy Grail. That's easy to watch again and again.

4. What is your go to breakfast food?
I am not a breakfast person, but I do love bagels. Particularly bagels with lox and cream cheese from Naval Bagels.

5. Do you drink coffee? If so, how do you take it?
No and I feel like I'm one of the few college students that don't.

Sunday Social {Week 44}

It's Sunday and that means I'm linking up with Ashley and Neeley for another Sunday Social. This week the questions are all on Pintertest.

1. What is your favorite outfit pin?
These two outfits from gochicorgohome are my favorite outfits for Fall and Spring/Summer. My style could be considered classic and nautical. I tend to stick to jeans, cardigans, and bright colors. If something is striped I'm probably going to want to grab that. You can find the rest of my fashion sense on my Pinterest style board.

2. What is your favorite food pin?
I've so far made these brussel sprouts twice and I should probably make a recipe post on here since there isn't one to go with the picture. But it involves brussel sprouts, balsamic, parmesan cheese, and pine nuts. Here are some more recipes I've pinned.

3. What is your favorite wedding pin?
I'm in love with all the nautical, Navy, whimsical weddings I see. But this first look photo with the bridal party above is what really inspires me. I'm really considering doing a first look for our wedding even though Gerred is trying to stick to his traditional guns and wait for me to walk down the aisle. For more of my wedding pins I'd suggest looking at my wedding, decor, venues, engagement & wedding photography, bridal accessories and gifts, drinks, invitations, cakes, favors, wedding tips and advice, hair, flowers, bridesmaids, and dress boards. Yes, I know I have a lot of wedding boards, but in all fairness I am engaged and I am going to have a lot of time to plan.

4. What is your favorite DIY/craft pin?
There are a million DIYs I love, but the one I've been coveting for awhile and will hopefully do soon is the Mod Podge Lilly Pulitzer coasters out of paper from Lilly agendas. You can find my other DIY/craft pins here.

5. What is your favorite quote/verse/lyric pin?
I actually did not collect quotes until I needed to answer this. So I made a words board that I mostly stole from all of Katelyn Brooke's pins and made my words board. I plan on adding to this board later. But here is the quote graphic I chose. "Remember to explore" honestly this definitely fits me and this blog pretty well because that's what I like to do.

6. Share on more random pin you love.
I like the idea of having a guest room with a giant map on it where people can pin where they are visiting from. Honestly if I could just fill my home with maps I'd be happy. Here are more dream home designs I like.

Sunday Social {Week 37}

I'm getting back into the habit of Sunday Social by linking up with Ashley and Neely!

[via]
1. What is your favorite thing about spring?
My birthday is probably the biggest thing to happen in Spring. April 22 Earth Day Birthday. Other great things which I definitely said in the last Sunday Social: flowers blooming, the perfect temperature, the smell outside, seeing the sun again, and moods changing.

2. What is your favorite kind of flower to grow or receive?
My favorite flowers are Chrysanthemums (because of the book by Kevin Henkes,) Daffodils (because of Big Fish,) and I'll be walking down the aisle with peonies hopefully for my wedding.

3. What is your favorite nail polish color?

[via]
4. What is your favorite outdoor activity?
Water balloon fights! I haven't done this in a while, but I sure need to bring it back. Last time I did this was when I was a camp counselor in 2010 and Steve and I got together to surprise our cabins with a water balloon fight in a field. We were so excited, but none of them were impressed. Kids these days.

5. Do you have any fun spring plans? Details! :)
I already traveled to Pensacola, FL for Spring Break. Now my fun spring plans involve Easter (which is today!)

Happy Easter everyone!

Sunday Social {Week 41}

I'm back from Spring Break in Pensacola, FL. Now for some reason, my posts didn't post on schedule. I'll have to figure that out and if any of you might know why they didn't post let me know. But for now, I'm easing back into my regular non-vacation life with Sunday Social hosted by Ashley and Neely. Oh and Happy St. Patrick's Day everyone.

1. What is your favorite thing to do on a rainy day?
Arts & Crafts. I'd do it all day every rainy day if I could. If I don't, well hello computer, what's happenin'?

2. What is your favorite thing to do on a summer weekend?
Explore. I love to find new towns, landmarks, restaurants, shops, trails. You name it, I'll explore it.

3. What is your favorite spring activity?
I like exploring in the Spring too, but for all intensive purposes, I love going on walks around town and not having to worry about wearing a jacket. I always bring a camera.

4. What is your favorite way to spend a winter day?
Fire, hot peppermint tea or cocoa, relaxing music mixed with relaxation.

5. What is your favorite season and why?
Spring. The temperature is great, there's flowers everywhere, and the promise of school coming to an end is almost better than no school at all. Everyone just seems to be in a better mood.

6. What is the best birthday you ever had?
Hands down it will always be my 18th Birthday. Nothings better than turning 18 and finding your future husband in your kitchen.

Sunday Social {Week 36}

I think I may have caught the Sunday Social bug so I'm back to answer a few more questions from Ashley and Neely .

1. What was your first car?
A 1997 Honda Accord passed down to me by my Grandpa. It's named "Old Man" and it is too sexy for most of the cars on the road so it won't start at the moment.
[via]

2. Who was your favorite childhood teacher?
My favorite teacher in elementary school was my second grade teacher, Madame Ireland. This was back in French Immersion. She was the best because she would have us stretch in the middle of class and dance to Ricky Martin in conga lines by the end of each day while we waited for our buses. In high school my favorite teachers were Mrs. Sears, Mrs. Boothby, and Ms. T.

3. Were you involved in any sports/extracurricular activities? Share pictures if you can!
I tried out all sorts of sports growing up like softball, basketball, swimming, soccer...Nothing really took, but I did happen to like Field Hockey and Lacrosse a lot. I played up until high school and then chose to go the Volleyball route. As for extra curriculars, I did Destination Imagination from 5th-12th grade, and in high school Literary Magazine and It's Academic.
(This is Destination Imagination. It's essentially a problem-solving creative thinking performance group. We do improv sometimes.)
4. What was your favorite birthday party?
The Jersey Shore party Katie and I threw for our 18th Birthday. It was super fun and everybody dressed up. I even met my fiance there for the first time, so hey, that birthday can never be topped.

5. Who was your teen celebrity crush?
I'm pretty sure during my freshman year of high school I secretly harbored a crush on Joe Jonas. Not sure what the appeal was now.

6. What show/movie did your parents not allow you to watch?
Really anything scary or violent. I rememember Looney Toons was something I couldn't watch since everyone chased each other in order to kill them.

And there you have it, a little bit more insight into my childhood I guess.

Sunday Social {Week 35}

I'm back with my second week of Sunay Social. Looks like I'm going to be making it a habit of linking up with Ashley and Neely.

1. If you were stuck on an island what are the two material items you would want to have?
I'm gonna go all survival skills with this answer. I'd like to have a pocket knife and a Nalgene+Iodine with me. The pocket knife would be my one necessary tool for cutting open coconuts, sharpening spears to fish with, self defense, and a variety of other uses. The Nalgene would be so that I could go find freshwater and purify it with iodine so that I could actually have something to drink. Not sure how long I would survive for because I'm not Bear Grylls.

2. What are two TV shows you'd watch over and over?
Downton Abbey and Game of Thrones are shows that I have watched multiple times. I think I've seen the Pilot of Game of Thrones about 6 times. I watched it myself when the show first aired, then got Gerred, My Dad, Katie, and Kacie to each watch it individually with me and then the entire Kirby family to watch it at the beach. I alos loved being around the UK during Season 3 of Downton Abbey because I got to see it American TV aired it. Also just by looking at these images of the shows, I here the theme music and am going a little crazy in anticipation.

3. If your house was on fire what two things aside from family, pets, etc would you grab?
This week there was a fire drill and I thought it was real for some reason because who would have a fire drill in the snow and not e-mail anyone about it? Well, I didn't grab my laptop, my phone, or photos of my family. I grabbed my Ironing board for no apparent reason. But really I'd try to grab my external harddrive and my little jewelry box, because they are small enough to run out of the house with.

4. What are your two most favorite articles of clothing?
I have a grey JCrew cashmere cardigan I got consigned for $17 when it sells for $188 in store. I also love my royal blue dress my mom got that has a nifty little zipper in the back. I wore it to Gerred's Graduation party and for New Years.

5. What two movies that you saw in the past year would you recommend to us?
Moonrise Kingdom and Dead Poet's Society. Moonrise Kingdom was spectacular and I've seen it twice now. I watched the end scene on the plane receptively for the music when I was landing in BWI. Dead Poets Society was a movie I'd never seen until this year and probably should have seen a million years ago because it was beyond fantastic. I watched a lot of good movies I'd never gotten around to see and loved them like American Beauty, The Godfather, Goodfellas, Rushmore, Life Aquatic, The Pianist, and The Royal Tenanbaums.

6. What are your two biggest guilty pleasures?
Pretty Little Liars and America's Next Top Model. Luckily, I have found roommates that appreciate these guilty pleasures and will watch them with me in the living room. Karyn was also great for watching guilty pleasure shows with while we were in Ireland.

Sunday Social

Yesterday's post on Blog Goals has really helped me get the blog engine in my head running. All the comments from yesterday were super helpful. I found some new military blogs to follow as well as two new linkups to join, like this one Sunday Social from Ashley and Neely. With this I'll be able to connect with other bloggers and answer a few questions weekly.

1. What is your ideal way to relax?
I paint my nails (right now I'm rocking Essie's A-list), put on a mindless and shameless show (Bravo or TLC), and skim through magazines.

2. Where is your favorite place to be?
Now this will get three answers because all are true. First, is Ireland. It's been a month now since I've left and I miss the scenery and the nightlife so bad. Second, is where I am now--my room wherever that is (home or dorm.) I am a mix of an extrovert/introvert where I love to be around people, but definitely need my time to recharge by myself. And lastly, I'd just love to be in Pensacola again with Gerred or really anywhere I can see him face to face.

3. Who do you consider your biggest role model?
I talked about this with my cousin, Kacie, yesterday. "Who is your role model?" "I'd Say Marilyn Monroe because she's a sex bomb" "Well I'd have to go with Nancy Drew" "Of course" See, I just think Nancy Drew is like the number one role model. She's independent, clever, and courageous

4. What does your life look like in 3 years?
I'll be married to Gerred by then. It's crazy to think that by the time I'm 23 I'll already be married. Wow, that's when I'm going to be really learning what it's like to be a military wife. Also, I'll probably have a legit job by then if the job market is kind.

5. If you could go back and change one decision, what would it be?
I don't really believe in the whole "if only" thing. Dwelling can be bad, but I'd probably just go with the "I wish I tried harder in high school" thing. But you know I didn't do half bad and I got into college.

6. What is your biggest accomplishment in life so far?
Whoa, hmm biggest accomplishment academically was winning the Sophie Kerr Scholarship as an entering freshman at Washington College. My other biggest accomplishment (that I would rank higher than academics) was making it through a wonderful semester abroad on my own where I took risks and learned more than I ever thought I would.

Go ahead and answer these as well with Social Sunday. I'd love to see your answers.
